To the first use:
Wash well with detergent and hot water (preferably in the dishwasher) all the trays of sprouting and the cleaning brush as prescribed by the food hygiene standards.
Let's start to sprout:
- Soak two seed kitchen spoons (20-25 grams) in a simple glass of water for a period of 10/12 hours (the soaking times may vary depending on the type of seed, refer to the times indicated by the manufacturer).
- Then arrange the seeds homogeneously on the surface of the bud tray in any case well clean.
- Wet the seeds generously without using spray pumps or nebulists of any kind, Simply under a slight wire of tap water water for 2 or 3 times a day, shaking slightly with the hand to stir the seeds and thus limit the amount of roots that insinuates itself into the cracks. The excess water will flow alone in a few seconds from the cracks of the shelf and put it (s) by stating it on the water collection tray. Performing regularly the irrigation cycles will help you grow your sprouts well.
- During the sprouting phase, the trays must be stacked one on the other to ensure optimal ventilation, the water collection tray (the one without drain cracks) will go to the bottom to collect the residual waters.
- To facilitate sprouting or to increase the height capacity of each tray (suggested for grass sprouts), put at the top of the last tray of sprouting in use with the seeds another tray (empty) overturned as a lid, through the appropriate steps for the interlocking. From this new "lid" it will be possible to start again with one or a series of new trays that you can stack on each other always safely.
- The sprouts will generally be ready after 3/5 days from their home, will however depend on the variety used and the season.
- After each collection, remove any residue from the tray itself using the practical toothbrush supplied or possibly sponges but still not abrasive. The tray must be carefully washed, using even a little vinegar or simple sodium bicarbonate, preferably in the dishwasher.
- Before consuming the sprouts it is sufficient to wash them simply under current drinking water as used for the salad, also to facilitate the possible elimination of the skins (external tiles of the seeds) you can immerse the sprouts in the water, the skins will naturally come to the surface as lighter, however any residues of these tugments do not constitute any problem for power.
The sprouts obtained can be taken from time to time directly from the bud tray and washed and seasoned as a common salad, or kept in the fridge for a maximum of three days. For the washing operation, a simple centrifuge for salad can be useful (with narrow cracks).
Warnings:
- The sprouting simply takes place in a domestic environment and at room temperature.
- Do not expose to direct sunlight.
- For the correct use of this sproutor do not use soils, peat, soils, or additives of any kind but exclusively drinking water intended for domestic consumption.
- Some formations of the roots are not mold but radical hair, i.e. developments of the roots which in some types of seeds, such as in the radish, are to be considered absolutely natural.
However, if at the time of the collection there were unpleasant odors, however different from the natural one of the wet, throw the harvest away without delay and carefully wash the tray in the dishwasher. However, they are very rare cases and to be attributed to a lack or an oversight in the phase of the sprouting.
The choice of seeds:
- The choice of seeds is subjective, and it is still essential not only to orient themselves on those coming from organic farming but also on those who have the "germinate" certification that guarantees its intended use.
In principle, pay attention to all types of seeds whose sprouts must be consumed after cooking (example: bean adzuki, soybean, chickpeas, etc.).
As for mucilage seeds, it is advisable to use them only in mix with other non -mucilaginous varieties and in a few grams
For mucilage seeds we recommend the specific sprout for this type of seed: Glass sprout for mucilage seeds.
